We become the legal employer of the deckhands, riggers, tankermen, divers and offshore technicians you deploy on vessels, platforms and the waterfront. Weekly W-2 payroll, Maritime Employers Liability for Jones Act crews, USL&H for dockside and terminal work, and the insurance appetite most providers cannot get. Offices in Mobile, Houston and Pascagoula, with Lafayette, Louisiana opening in 2026.
BOOK A CONSULTATIONEvery land based employee in America is inside a workers compensation system: an injury pays a schedule, and the employer is shielded from suit. A crew member on a vessel in navigation is outside that system entirely. Under the Jones Act they can sue their employer for negligence, claim unseaworthiness against the vessel, and collect maintenance and cure regardless of fault.
That one fact changes the insurance, the onboarding, the safety program and the carrier conversation. Then the same worker steps onto a dock to load out, and a second federal regime, USL&H, takes over. Revelation carries both, with thirty years of marine claims history underneath, because the Gulf Coast is where we were built.
Revelation operates from Mobile, Houston and Pascagoula, the three working ports of the central Gulf. We know which carriers write MEL, what they ask for, and how to keep a fleet of crews insurable year after year.
You decide who crews up, on which boat or platform, under whose command. Revelation becomes the legal employer and absorbs every obligation behind that decision.
These are the obligations that separate marine employment from everything else. A single crew change can touch all four.
Seaman status turns on a substantial connection to a vessel or fleet in navigation. Once it attaches, the worker is outside workers compensation, can sue the employer for negligence, and is owed maintenance and cure for any injury or illness that arises in service of the vessel. Maritime Employers Liability is the coverage that answers. Without it, every injury aboard is uncapped litigation. MEL and the Jones Act explained →
The moment a crew member works on a pier, terminal, barge fleet or shipyard, the Longshore and Harbor Workers Compensation Act applies. State comp policies exclude it. Marine contractors routinely have workers who cross from one regime to the other in the same shift, which is why both coverages have to be in force at once. Read the USL&H guide →
Access to regulated port facilities requires a Transportation Worker Identification Credential. Crew on inspected vessels sit under Coast Guard drug and alcohol testing rules, and some operations fall under DOT programs as well. Revelation tracks credentials and runs the testing programs so a lapsed card does not strand a crew at the gate.
Offshore rotations do not fit a standard pay week. Day rates, equal time schedules, stand by pay, per diem and the state withholding that follows a crew mustered in one state and working off another all have to be handled correctly every week. Revelation runs marine payroll as a standard product, not an exception.
Software led EOR platforms are built to onboard a knowledge worker in a new jurisdiction. Nothing in that model contemplates a seaman, and the insurance they carry excludes one.

Inland and offshore, vessel and platform, construction and support. From the deck to the dive spread.
You own the operator relationship and the invoicing. Revelation runs as your back office employment engine: onboarding, weekly hitch payroll, MEL and USL&H, benefits and HR, under white labelled documentation carrying your branding. Built for offshore staffing firms and marine contractors that hold the relationships and need insurable employment behind them.
Revelation operates as a full employment partner: contracts, terms, certificates of insurance, client billing and accounts receivable, with consultative support on safety, pricing and contract structure. Built for firms crewing a new vessel or campaign that want the full operational stack and the receivable risk carried for them.
“We believe great partnerships build great businesses, and every relationship we enter is one we invest in for the long term.”
The EOR becomes the legal employer of your crews. It runs weekly payroll on hitch schedules, withholds and files taxes in every state involved, carries Maritime Employers Liability and USL&H, administers benefits, tracks credentials and runs drug testing programs. You keep full control of who crews up, on which asset, and under whose command.
A worker who contributes to the function of a vessel or fleet in navigation and has a substantial connection to it in both duration and nature. Deck crew, engine crew and many construction and service workers assigned to vessels qualify. Seamen are outside workers compensation and can sue their employer for negligence, which is why MEL coverage is essential.
Maritime Employers Liability responds to Jones Act claims from vessel crew. USL&H is federal workers compensation for longshore, dock, terminal and shipyard workers who are not seamen. A marine contractor usually needs both, because the same workers move between the two environments. Revelation carries both as standard.
